Structural design of goals
People are creators. And an organisation is a collection of people creating together. Sometimes this works well, and we achieve the desired outcomes; other times, it does not. Why is this? Many answers focus on methods, models, behavioural change, mindset and problem solving. However, these approaches often create short terms success that is not sustainable over time.
Robert Fritz explains why. It is the underlying structure that determines whether an effort to create has a high chance of success or failure. Through this structural lens, I work with you to build the easiest way towards your goal—as an organisation, leader, self-employed professional, or ambitious individual.
Fritz is, first and foremost, a creator. As a composer, filmmaker, and writer, he brings the ability to create—so intrinsic to makers—into the worlds of business, government, non-profits, and individuals. His work on the structural causes of failure and success adds a missing piece to our understanding of development of organisations and goals from individuals.
This work was also the missing link that allowed me to connect my experience as a business manager and a writer, my passion for the arts and culture sector, and my lifelong study of the development of organisations, people, and society.
Creating what matters most
The structural dynamics approach is particularly suited to people and organisations working from a suboptimal starting position in achieving their goals. It is sure to resonates with people who are value-driven and seeks to create outcomes that matter.
Structural design focuses all your creativity, innovation, and effort, generating intrinsically motivated individuals. Top athletes, artists, and creative professionals excel in this, but often struggle to apply it to other creative processes than that of their passion, like entrepreneurial and organisational skills.
One of the key insights of structural dynamics is:
Energy moves where it is easiest to go
By creating this path of least resistance to the desired outcome, taking the next step becomes easier than not taking it.
